DREAM OBAMA, a film written and directed by multi-talented Damien Dematra has recently won three awards from Accolade Competition, a film competition in San Diego, California, USA. The film received Award of Excellence as the Best Feature Film; Award of Merit for Damien Dematra as Best Director, and Award of Merit for Natasha Dematra as the leading actress.
DREAM OBAMA has been screened in Indonesian cinemas along with President Obama inauguration in January 2013. The movie is awarded as the fastest film produced from scenario to premiere in 9 days 17 hours and 45 minutes and listed in World Record Museum, Royal World Records, and also submitted to the Guinness World Records.
In his letter, Thomas Baker, Ph.D., the Director of the Accolade Competition wrote that DREAM OBAMA was elected as one of the winners because the film has made remarkable achievement in its artistic ability and creativity, exceeding industry standards. Accolade Competition, established in 2003, is regarded as a prestigious film competition and was once selected by Moviemaker Magazine as "The Top 25 Festivals worth the Entry Fee".
DREAM OBAMA is played by notable Indonesian movie stars, Ayu Azhari (2001 Asia Pacific Best Actress) and Pong Hardjatmo as its supporting roles, Radhit Sham, Rahayu Saraswati, and many reputable Indonesian leaders, businessmen, and businesswomen. Among them are Yusril Ihza Mahendra, KH. Slamet Effendy Yusuf, Martha Tilaar , Ron Mullers, Putu Ary Suta, Freddy Ndolu, international actor and bodybuilder Ade Rai, international model Tracy Trinita, and other famous actors, Steve Emmanuel, Karenina Halim, Atieq and Maryam Azhari, and Vina Yunita.
OBAMA DREAM is about Maggie (Natasha Dematra), a twelve year old vivacious girl living with her single mom (Ayu Azhari) and her grandfather (Pong Herdjatmo). Her grandfather is a big fan of Obama. While pouring over Obama’s dreams to inspire her, he put Maggie to the school where Obama used to study. Only one big accident changed their destinies forever, and left Maggie facing her true agonizing trial alone, and striving to prove her grandfather’s dream.
